And not the fun kind you do on the dance floor when the bands plays Ring of Fire. It's the leaving-the-family-home-in-the-suburbs-and-moving-to-an-apartment-in-the-Bohemian/Artsy/Gay/Victorian-neighborhood-in-the-city kind.
Which shouldn't surprise anyone if you've been reading my blog lately.
As some of you know, I'm not your average Lacrosse Mom (the new Soccer Mom). I'm a couch surfer, an Irish stepdancer, a Wilcohead, and a world traveler, including two years in Tokyo.
So it came as a bit of a shock to me the other day when I went to my 5th grader's Author's Academy and read this about myself in his biography:
M's brother is very competitive in sports. His sister is a great artist. His dad loves sports. And his mom loves the color orange.
The color orange? His mom loves the color orange?
You see, in my fantasy life my son would have said something more interesting about me such as, My mom loves the color crimson.
So much better, don't you think?

Wow... to have your whole life distilled down to a color.. and THAT color no less.
I hate that color btw, but I love your blog... hmmm....
I did that move a few years back. It sucked. Living in a studio with the rats and the heat and the creepy neighbors... Sucked. I kept telling myself I had my pride and that I had made the right choice... and now I can say both of those things were true.
But for a while, it just sucked.
Orange can be pretty damn firey, though. Firey is passionate. How about we go from there?
That kid gets nothing but orange juice from now until Christmas.
At least he didn't say grey or poo brown. ;)
But I like that! Orange is a great color to like! Unless it's University of Texas burnt-orange. We hate that at my house.
Hey, I didn't know you're a stepdancer! So is my daughter :o) Who said in her thing about me that I make great spaghetti. But see...I don't. Prego does.
Thanks!
:o) BJ
I'm trying to think how to describe myself in four words. Tough one, trust your kids to do it for you. Ouch!
I ask you though - which is worse? Sports or Orange?
I think I'd take orange. Sports are so... ordinary.
Wow, orange ... that's so important.
Hmmm. There's probably some sort of deep significance to all this. Have you looked up what "orange" means on a subconscious level? To me, orange says, Fresh! Vibrant! Bright! So . . . maybe it's not that bad.
orange you glad you dont like purple? ha ha!
There's an bohemian/Artsy/Gay/Victorian-neighborhood-in-the-city in NW Ohio? You're kidding, aren't you? I love also love orange.
At least it wasn't something like "And my mom loves walking around the house in her underwear."
I plan never to move house again; here's hoping :)
oh my God that is FUNNY!!!!!
LOL
and my word verification was barrin.
if only. Of course then I would have NO bloggy material.
I saw that Reforming Geek mentioned your blog and I decided to check it out.
Pretty cool. I always like to comment and tell you if I'll be back, which I most certainly will.
Happy Weekend!
Somebody trademarked orange? Crap...all the good colors are gone...
Hope the move has and is going well. Cheers Meg!!
That is freakin AWESOME. The color orange is WAY more interesting that sports. Oh and congrats on moving to the gay neighborhood. Everyone knows that's where the cool people are. And we'd bet they've got simply oodles of orange there.
xox
WAM
Moving sucks.
But the color orange? Now THERE'S a color that doesn't. Suck, I mean.
I have to admit it's perplexing!
Pearl
heh. Cheers! Orange isn't so bad.I accidentally dyed my hair that color for one insufferable year in high school. The, uh, first insufferable year of high school. If it'd been something other than my hair it woulda been fine. really.
See? not such a bad color after all. O.O
Hope your move went well and that you're doing all right. Missing seeing you here in the blogosphere.
I'm going to ask my kids what my favorite color is, and if they say "pink" I'm going to punch something.
Where have you gone, Meg?
http://www.xhamster.com/movies/157069/99_words_for_boobs.html
are you done moving yet?
Or even chartreuse...with the verb "covets" instead of "loves."
I hope your move has gone well; I've missed you!
Yes, but THEN where did you go? :)
