Would You Want This Woman Teaching Your Children?

So the other day I had this job interview to teach in a charter school.

As the principal was explaining to me their back-to-basics-ethical values philosophy, I had one thought in my mind:

please don't find out about my blog please don't find out about my blog please don't find out about my blog please don't find out about my blog please don't find out about my blog and if you do find out about my blog please don't find out about my Blog Behind The Blog or worse, my Blog Behind The Blog Behind The Blog where I recently posted a picture of myself with cleavage. (If you missed it, scroll down to my previous post and click on The Back Door and then scroll down past Hillary and click on Blog Behind The Blog Behind The Blog. And typing this is like having to explain the punchline of a joke--but most of you missed it the first time)

I've had some reservations about returning to the classroom. But after my recent experience tutoring two second graders, I've started to think there are some positive points.

First, you can't beat the energy and excitement elementary students have when the world of reading is opened up to them.  Second, the students have yet to be jaded about learning, and that is truly a beautiful thing.

Of course, there are drawbacks as well.  Let's just hope none of the students have been doing this:

Thanks to the soon-to-be ex for the photo.  Sometimes you come through, guy.

I'd rather a woman like you teaching my kids than a Republican fundamentalist Christian. THOSE people are twisted...

Oh, and bogus cleavage tease, Meg!

That's what I thought too, Free Man, dig deeper and enjoy.

As for you Mizz Meg...Young kids need to be exposed to your free spirit...No, not that way, you vixen, you. You know what I mean. Cheers Sexy!~!

I wouldn't worry so much about what the kiddos HAD done, but would worry myself sick over what they MIGHT do under my watch. Could you just imagine telling a parent, "Uh, yeah...little Suzie Q. licked a pig today."

I had the same thoughts as The Office Scribe! Great picture and you should meet my daughter's teacher--an ex-hippie--and she's great!

Ah yes, I've been thinking of the plus points of teaching, too. It's my way of staying sane!

Good luck with it all.

I'm going to need the name of the charter school before I can send your blog link directly to them.

Personally, I'd hire you on the basis of this blog.

Well, I now know one thing. That picture is not the thing one wants to see while eating a bagel.

Your blog is great! And yes, I would want you teaching my kids.

Oh yes I know what you mean about children and their eagerness to learn. I taught art as a volunteer in an elementary school for five years (I know, a "fun" subject) and the children were always engaging, listening and eager. It was very rewarding.

When I first read this I thought you wrote "...after my recent experience torturing two second graders..." and I thought... Oh, that makes sense.

I totally worry about what will happen if I return to teaching because I think I'm too overprotective of my blog to edit out all references to things such as "butt sex" and "pubic hair removal." Then again, blogging pays about as much as teaching so I probably won't ever force myself to choose between them.
