Stepping It Up This St. Patrick's Day Season

You gotta love the Irish. For one week day out of the year:

the men get to wear skirts

and jewelry.

The virtues of alcohol are touted and drinking at noon is encouraged.

Sex is OK

and cursing.

And even "The Very Reverend So and So, the Episcopal Vicar of the Diocese, has dispensed those choosing to eat meat from the Lenten obligation to abstain.

Meaning, you can eat all the corn beef your Boddingtons can handle.

Best of all, there's the step-dancing.

Meet my Irish step-dancing friend Belinda. She was a Catholic nun for 16 years. However, Belinda left the Sisterhood because she decided she liked wearing short dresses and hopping up and down on a stage better than wearing long dresses and hopping up and down on a prayer bench.

This is our adult group premiering our new dance. Belinda is in the front row looking hot with the ten extra pounds video adds, and I'm the redhead in the back looking just the opposite.

If you made it through the dance and are wondering what we are passing to each other at the end, it's a Murphy's Irish Stout.

Told you, The Irish take their drinking very seriously, even the former nuns.

p.s. If you've ever wondered how Riverdance began, it was created by women waiting in line for the loo.

If it was socially acceptable, I'd wear a skirt everyday. My boys enjoy being unfettered. Happy St. Patrick's Day, Meg. Cheers!!

That looks like fun. I bet Belinda's having a lot more fun as a civilian than as a nun eh?

And here was me thinking you could not possibly BE any cooler. I was wrong.

Oh, and Matt-Man? YES YOU CAN wear a kilt every day. You go right ahead.

In fact, let the yards of tartan flow. I'm all for kilts. My husband has cute legs.

God bless the Irish, they who have given me half my heritage, a kicky dance, the deliciousness that is a potato, and his Holiness, Bono.

My granddad was from Cork, where Murphys is brewed, so God bless you and enjoy.

I'm a huge Patty's Day fan too, so it's nice to see I'm not the only one up to my neck in corned beef tonight! Thanks for spreading some Irish love.

Very fun! I too was a former nun who became Lord of the Dance (Junior Varsity squad). But I like the feel of plaid skirts against my naked body.

I'll stop here.

Hey, no problem commenting here. Whew. ;)

Loved the dancing. I never thought a hippie like you, though, would be in to such traditional dancing. I imagined you more into Dead-like dancing.

Nice dancing... I was going to make a comment about Riverwalk--as I heard something about them being on their farewell tour the other day--maybe they finally got enough loos for women. Your ex-nun friend don't look like the ones I've know--looks more like the Julie Andrews variety!

I'm so used to seeing kids step dance that all I could watch here is the nice big-lady boobs shaking.

Clearly, I need to grow up, myself.

You are awesome.

Riverdance , I know that Michael Flatley was/is a bit off but I'm sorry I could watch him and his team of dancers forever

I would love to learn how to step-dance.

And now I finally know how to spell "Pogue Ma Hone" (not like that).
