Meg's been Memed!!

I was hoping to use my current depressed state as a reason not to do any writing in my posts, but Doug at Taunt Vortex tagged me for a meme. I'm supposed to write seven random things about Doug.

Thanks, Doug. Here goes:

1. He writes a humor blog and is very humorous.

2. He doesn't believe in erosion.

3. He's been married like, forever, but seems to be obsessed with the Divore360 site.

4. He's old, but not as old as I am.

5. He looks like Dustin Hoffman.

6. If Doug had to sleep with a movie director it would be Quentin Tarantino.

7. If he had to sleep with a Beatle it would be John (pre 198o).

8.  If he had to sleep with a blogger it would be...wait a minute, that's seven. Done!

And just to show that even in my blue state I'm a good sport, I'll tell you all seven random things about myself:

1. Twenty-eight years ago on December 9th, I woke up and saw a note on the dining room table from my mom: "Peggie Lee, a man came from all the way from Hawaii to New York and shot John Lennon dead."

2. I have this magazine framed on my Wall of Fame:

3. And this photo:

4. I've seen two of the fab four in concert.

5. But not John.

6. And if I had to sleep with a Beatle, it would be him.

7. But I wouldn't turn George away either.

I think that I'm supposed to tag six other people, but I've decided to tag Chris "Jack Black" Wood six times instead. He does the wickedest memes.

*********************************************

Stay tuned for more from my Wall of Fame including the title to the album on the wall.

If you like John or George, you can vote for them at Humor-Blogs.

The morning of Dec. 9, 1980, my Dad woke me up for school by telling me Lennon had been killed. I came home sick from school to grieve. I still have the diary I raged in, and the copy of Time magazine I pilfered from my grandparent's house. Oh, I'm forever a John girl, too.

Yeah, I'll never forget that night. I was watching Monday night football, when Howard Cosell broke in to announce the news.

I drove over to a friend's house - another Beatles fan, of course - and we just sort of sat there, not saying much at all.

That was a rough time. Not to bring everyone down, but in the span of 13 months I lost my grandfather (who was more like a father to me), then John Lennon, then my mother.

But I learned that no matter how bad things are at any given moment, there will always be better times ahead.

Wow. I don't know why, but the way you found out sent a jolt to my system.

John and George were the best. Cheers Meg!!

You're right about the better times ahead, and I hope you're feeling better soon.

I was working on a design project and I had a hangover. It was late in the day and COLD.

I was numb - literally.

Especially because it happened a few blocks from where I grew up. It was very hard for me to wrap my head around the whole thing.

John's my favorite Beatle, as well.

And you're is officially the first meme I've seen where the blogger writes it about another blogger. Cheers to you-- that's got to take talent (or makin' stuff up). (Or both.) :)

Hope you're feeling more Up again soon.

John's death was terrible, but I was only small at the time so I can't say it hit me at the time.

I don't know if you've ever seen the Concert For George DVD, but I've watched it twice and blubbed both times.

Oh, regarding #6. Tarantino? Only because Hitchcock isn't alive!

My fav Beatles was always George. I too blubbed like Chris (surprisingly he really does cry like a girl) when I watched the Concert For George.

Um, this was kinda sad! Aren't memes supposed to be funny?

His goal in life was to be an echo
The type of sound that floats around and then back down, like a feather
But in the deep chrome canyons of the loudest Manhattans
No one could hear him
Or anything

Remember to remember me
Standing still in your past
Floating fast like a hummingbird

Hmm. Is My Jeff Tweedy singing about My John Lennon in Hummingbird? I never thought of it that way.

I dont know those guys are really old. I think Id pass and do the guy from Lazy Town.

Just Sayin' said...

I wouldn't dare speak for Tweedy... He does that pretty well on his own.

But honestly... Whenever I hear this song, especially that verse I can't help but think of John... But, it could just be me...

John's death isn't etched in my memory like Elvis' (even though there were only a few songs by Elvis I liked and I had a large number of Beatle albums). It probably had something to do with me having just flown for 20+ hours back from Japan to the east coast and trying to catch up at work.

May there be a upturn in your depressed state, sunshine melting away the blues (and may this also happen with our economy).

My babies love the Beatles and my oldest shares her birthday with John Lennon's death day. :)
