No New Years Cheer, I Fear

I know we're supposed to feel all positive about the new year. But 2010? I remember when 1984 seemed like the future.

The fact is: I'm old.

My own kids don't know about phone booths, the Walkman, or Bing Crosby. Thank Hollywood they keep remaking Dr. Seuss, or even he would obsolete.

I'm in my home country, NC, and it brings back lots of memories and then I think--"that was 35 years ago!" Happy New Year!

This New Years made me feel old and I'm not. Well, I am old in the eyes of a 7 year old (because they have told me).

Love the Cat in the Old-Age Hat. You are as old as you... are. Happy New Year.

The wifey-poo made "gold" category for sales at her work and so now I call her the "Golden Girl". She's not amused...

That's really scary. I was just thinking about how cool New Year's Eve 1984 was. Or is that New Year's Eve 1983 that turned into 1984? Whatever it is, I was just thinking about rocking out in my great-grandmother's basement thinking how awesome it was to stay up past midnight.

My Dad had that same Dr. Seuss-esque rhyme up in his office. You're not that old. Trust me.

We can't be that old; Dippin' Dots is STILL advertised as "The Ice Cream of the Future!"

Nah, Meg, you're not old. You're just filled with pre-2010 history, is all. :) There's a huge difference.

A while ago I was showing my kids a picture of my cousin's family.
I mistakenly thought my cute cousins were the now grown up girls with kids in the pic.
They weren't. Those were their kids.
UGGG. Some days are just not funny.

Happy New year Meg!

Yeah, I'm old. What I know first hand is history to young uns. They don't believe that things used to be so (what's the word?)[see how old I am?] let's just say inconvenient, oh, maybe I mean primitive. Yeah, primitive, like b&w tv where you had to get up to change channels and only had a few to choose from. I'm gonna steal the Cat in the Hat poster.
Thanks,

I told my daughter that we didn't have juice boxes when I was a kid and she looked at me horrified and asked:
"Did you have PHONES?"
Relevance? I'm not sure.

Hey, I just wanted to stop by and say hello. I was thinking about my own fantasy life this morning, and found myself saying "prefers her fantasy life." Hope you're doing well.

Hey Meg, was the year 2010 as bad as you thought? If so, I hope 2011 is treating you better.
